Dr. Barbara Sharief Earns Support from Major LGBTQ+ Organizations
Miramar, FL (October 4, 2021)—Today, Dr. Barbara Sharief, candidate for Florida’s 20th Congressional District, announced the endorsement of Palm Beach County Human Rights Council (PBCHRC) and the recommendation of Broward County’s Dolphin Democratic Club.
“I’m honored to have the full support of Broward and Palm Beach County’s major LGBTQ+ organizations in my campaign for Congress, and privileged to partner with them in the fight to end discrimatation based on sexual orientation, gender identity or expression in our communities. The voices of both Dolphin Democrats and PBCHRC are essential in working against hate of any kind, and I look forward to continuing our shared mission in Congress.”
PBCHRC is Florida’s oldest, independent, non-partisan, political organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. Dolphin Democrats is a chapter of the Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus and works to foster goodwill between lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer members of the community.
Dr. Barbara Sharief is a candidate for U.S. Congress in Florida’s 20th Congressional District. Barbara specializes in critical care and pediatrics and used her skills to open her own pediatric and adult homecare service, where she employs over 200 frontline heroes. Barbara has served as Broward County Commissioner for 11 years, and made history as not only Broward County’s first Black female mayor but also the first Black female President of the Florida Association of Counties. Barbara was born and raised in South Florida and has three beautiful daughters.
