Dr. Barbara Sharief Denounces Radical Texas Abortion Band
Miramar, FL (September 14, 2021)— Dr. Barbara Sharief, candidate for Florida’s 20th Congressional District, denounced Texas’ extreme abortion ban.
“Texas’ radical abortion ban is a direct attack on women’s guaranteed rights as American citizens, and I stand with those fighting to overturn it. Trump’s Supreme Court allowed this assault on women’s health, and they must be held accountable by strong congressional representatives. As a Doctor of Nursing Practice, I cannot sit silently while essential healthcare is denied to women in an entire state. This law bans abortions before many even know they are pregnant, effectively barring an estimated 84% of those seeking an abortion from accessing one in-state (Texas Evaluation Project).
I have spent my life fighting to improve access to healthcare for the needy in our community, especially women and women of color, and I won’t stop now. I will continue to advocate for a women’s right to choose here in South Florida and nationally, defending healthcare that is promised under the U.S. Constitution.”
